The Best North Shore Breweries MN
Duluth, Minnesota, which sits at the southern tip of Minnesota’s North Shore, shares 10 breweries among its 86,000 inhabitants. It is safe to say that Duluth has a great local brewery scene.
1. Bent Paddle Brewing Co.
Bent Paddle Brewing Company is one of our favorite Duluth breweries. It is a quintessential North Shore brewery that is famous for “bending the traditions” in the brewing industry.
One of those traditions that they didn’t just bend, but broke, was their focus on sustainability. They are committed to sustainability for the business, employees, the environment, and the greater community. They are true leaders in the brewing industry.
We love, and I mean LOVE, their Venture Pils, Black Ale, and Light Lager. They also make a great Non-alcoholic Hop Water and some CBD infused drinks.

2. Canal Park Brewing Co.
Canal Park Brewing Company is located in the heart of Duluth’s Canal Park neighborhood and is a local favorite. This solar-powered, family-owned brewery is known for its good ales, excellent food, and amazing views of Lake Superior.
Nut Hatchet Brown Ale and Stoned Surf IPA are crowd favorites. They also serve craft cocktails and wine.

3. Blacklist Brewing Company
Blacklist Brewing Company is a legend in the North Shore brewing scene and is one of the area’s finest breweries. In addition to amazing beer, they are also Duluth’s first Ax Throwing bar! It is a great place for a drink and some action!
We love Lake Walk Pilsner, Peach Hazy, and other signature beer tastings. They also serve gluten-free seltzers and NA Craft Beer.

4. Castle Danger Brewery
Castle Danger is a state of the art north shore brewery. It is what we drink the most at home. They also have a great tap room at their brewery in Two Harbors, MN, which is about a half hour north of Duluth.
We LOVE their famous Castle Cream Ale, George Hunter Stout, and many seasonal brews. There is often a food truck parked outside.

5. Fitgers Brewhouse
Fitger’s Brewhouse is Duluth’s original brewpub and one of Duluth’s finest eateries. It is located in the old Fitgers Building, where they have been brewing beer since 1857! Fitgers is a full service brewpub, so get ready for a full drink list and mouth-watering meals as well.
We love their flagship beers: Munich Hfelles and Superior Trail IPA.

6. Hoops Brewing Company
Hoops is what happens when a German Beer Hall meets UMD Bulldog hockey Fans. Grab a bit to eat from any of the nearby restaurants and enjoy the best Bulldog watch party in town at this amazing north shore brewery.

7. Lake Superior Brewing Company
Lake Superior Brewing Company is a full service brewpub with an amazing kitchen. In addition to great beer and food, they also host a number of live music nights.
Kayak Kolsch and Sir Duluth Oatmeal Stout are our favorites.

8. Earth Rider Brewery
Earth Rider Brewery is just over the lift bridge in Superior, Wisconsin, Duluth’s sister city. They focus on using only the finest ingredients, clean, crisp Lake Superior water, and working in small batches.
Caribou Lake IPA and Northern Tower Stout are two great beers to start with.

9. Ursa Minor Brewing
Ursa Minor Brewing is where great beer meets even better wood-fired pizza. They host live local music and many community events.

10. Thirsty Pagan Brewing
Thirsty Pagan Brewing is a full-service brew pub with excellent pizza. They are based in the old Soo Line Building in Superior, Wisconsin, right across the river from Duluth.
We love Peacock Pilsner and Harbor Haze Hazy IPA.

11. Voyageur Brewing Company
We LOVE Grand Marais and love Voyageur Brewing even more. They’ve been turning lake water into beer since 2015. They also have great food, including smoked fish produced locally by The Fisherman’s Daughter.
You have to try Devil’s Kettle India Pale Ale and Palisade Porter.

12. Warrior Brewing Company
Warrior Brewing Company feels more like a speakeasy than a brewery. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but worth it. It is located not far from Duluth Grill and is known for its adventurous craft beers.
We love their Barbarian Imperial Stout and Oktoberfest Marzen.

In addition to great breweries, the North Shore of Minnesota is also home to a number of excellent tap houses.
13. Duluth Tap Exchange
Duluth Tap Exchange is a serve yourself tap house! You get an RFID wristband that is linked to your ID and you can pour till you can pour no more.
Their large selection of taps have beer from all over the US and a nice selection of wine. New beers are frequently added.

14. Dubh Lin Brew Pub
Dubh Lin is an Irish Brew Pub located in Duluth, MN. Enjoy traditional Irish food, excellent beer and great local music. It is a great spot to bring the whole family.

15. The Barrel Room
The Barrel Room is part of the Fitgers complex and is located right across the hall from the brewery and restaurant. Its a nice spot to sit back and try as many beers as you can. They also have a full bar.

Arrowhead Tap house is located at Duluth International Airport. We are still so impressed that a small airport like Duluth already has a tap house!

Crooked Pint is a midwestern tap house chain. They are family friendly, serve excellent food, and have great beer. They are best known for their Jucy Lucy.

Beer not your thing? Thankfully, the North Shore of Minnesota has a number of excellent cideries as well.
18. Wild State Cider
Wild State’s ciders are all natural. They do not include added sugar and are never made from concentrate. They have a bunch of unique events, including a Taylor Swift Era Barre Class!
We love their Classic Dry Cider and Hazy Pink Pineapple Cider.

Best Distilleries and Wineries – North Shore MN
Finally, we come to distilleries and wineries. As you can imagine, growing grapes in the frozen tundra is not an easy feat and there is only one distillery and one winery in the area. Both are worth a stop.

20. Vikre Distillery
Vikre Distillery is best known for their unique Gins. Boreal Cedar Gin and Boreal Spruce Gin are excellent. They also make a very nice vodka.

21. North Shore Winery
North Shore Winery is the only winery in the north woods. While they do not grow their own grapes, they do ferment everything onsite. They also make excellent ciders.
They even won Northern Wilds 2017 Best Wine Award!
